John Harvey, an active member of SNCC during the sixties, worked to establish a voter registration school in 1961 at Mount Moriah Baptist Church in Walthall County.

Ruby Magee, born in Tylertown, Mississippi, became active in the civil rights movement during the early sixties while she was a student and Jackson State College.

Curtis Conway Bryant, known as C. C., was born in Tylertown, Mississippi, in 1917. Bryant was an active community member and volunteer who soon became a figurehead during the Civil Rights Movement.
